Mary Jabe
My name is Mary Jabe. I am 11. I am in P3 (Primary 3). I live in the settlement with my parents but we are very poor. They can not help me with school.
My favorite subjects are English and Math. I like the support I get from the teachers and other children at Ubuntu Model Primary School. Last week some of my classmates gave notebooks to me and other children who cannot afford the books.
Okello John
Okello John is a kind nine-year-old orphan with low vision, currently in Primary Two (P.2). His father was a doctor and his mother a nurse, both living and working in South Sudan. Tragically, he lost his parents and was left in the care of a neighbor who breastfed and raised him. Since then, he has known and called her his grandmother. He still lives with her to this day. Unfortunately, she has weakened and is now unable to cater to his basic needs. Okello enjoys singing, dancing, and playing football.
Apio Winnie
Apio Winnie is a fourteen-year-old orphan with strong leadership skills, currently in Primary Four (P.4). She lives with her maternal aunt in the settlement. Her aunt supports her through earnings from various casual labour jobs, but this income is insufficient to meet the basic needs of Winnie and her cousins. Winnie enjoys studying, farming, cooking, and making friends. She is also a member of the Environmental Kids’ Club (EKC) at school.
Amito Jennifer
Amito Jennifer is a hard-working thirteen-year-old girl currently in Primary Four (P.4). She was initially living with her mother, who later left her in the care of her grandmother. Currently, Jennifer lives with her grandmother, whose financial resources are quite limited compared to Jennifer’s needs. Jennifer loves learning, singing, and dancing. She is a member of the Music, Dance, and Drama (MDD) club at school.
Gatdet Riek Chat
Gatdet Riek Chat is a humble twelve-year-old pupil in Primary Four (P.4). He lives with his siblings under the care of their grandmother. His mother, who works as a casual laborer, lives far away and tries to support them, but her efforts are overwhelmed by the heavy responsibilities she faces. Gatdet loves reading, singing, and playing football and volleyball. He is a member of the Youth Alive Club (YAC) at school.
Uwase Sonia
Uwase Sonia is a very confident and cheerful nine-year-old pupil in Primary Two (P.2). She lives with her siblings in the school neighborhood. She took the initiative to enroll herself in school after GRI officials visited her home and encouraged her to join at no cost. Today, she is a happy and active pupil who loves singing, dancing, reciting poems, adventuring, and playing.
Moses Yakan
Moses Yakan is a diligent 13-year-old boy in the P.4 class. He lives with his maternal aunt and collaborates with her to meet his basic needs. In his free time, he takes on odd jobs to help afford essentials like clothing and school supplies. His mother is alive but suffers from mental illness. Moses enjoys singing, dancing, and playing volleyball. He is also a member of the school’s Music, Dance, and Drama (MDD) club.
Simon Daudi
Simon Daudi is a humble 9-year-old orphan in the P.3 class. He lives with his maternal aunt, who provides for his basic needs, but he is overwhelmed with responsibilities and struggles to fully support him financially. Simon finds comfort and happiness in singing, dancing, writing, and playing football.
Yomlat Bo
Yomlat Bol is a cheerful 10-year-old orphan in the P.2 class. He lives with his cousins and is cared for by his paternal aunt, who struggles to meet his basic needs. Despite his challenges, he is always smiling and happy. Yomlat finds joy in singing and playing football.
Rachael Rial Dak
Rachael Rial Dak is a kind and caring 9-year-old learner in the P.2 class. She lives with her siblings, cousins, and her mother, who is currently the breadwinner. Rachael’s father also supported the family until he was unexpectedly incapacitated by an illness. Rachael enjoys singing, dancing, praying, and playing netball.
Joy Sika
Meet Joy Sika, a motivated 9-year-old orphan currently in P.2. She resides with her siblings under the care of their grandmother within the settlement, following the passing of her parents. Joy has a passion for reading, writing, playing (especially skipping), and debating. She is also an active member of her school’s debate club
Manerefu Chusa
Manerefu Chusa is a confident and loving 9-year-old pupil in the P.2 class. He lives with and is supported by his single mother, who is a small-scale subsistence farmer. Her income is insufficient to fully sustain herself and her young children. Chusa enjoys dancing, farming, and playing football.
Nyawal Gatijang Machungu
Nyawal Gatijang Machungu is a polite 13-year-old girl in the P.4 class. She lives with her stepmother and father, who have other children under their care. Her father works as a casual labourer and farmer, and his limited earnings can only cover basic necessities like food and basic medical care. Nyawal enjoys reading, writing, and playing football.
Ropani Stella
Ropani Stella is a humble ten-year-old girl in Primary Two (P.2). She lives with her mother, who single-handedly takes care of her and her five siblings through income from crops grown on a small subsistence farm. However, this income is insufficient to meet all the children’s needs, including school fees. Ropani enjoys reading, writing, playing (especially rope skipping), singing, and dancing. As a result, she joined the Music, Dance, and Drama (MDD) club at school.
Akena Innocent
Akena Innocent is a cheerful nine-year-old orphan and Primary Two (P.2) pupil. He lives with his very elderly grandmother, who can hardly engage in any economic activities. Akena enjoys writing, dancing, farming, fetching water, doing laundry, and playing board games..
Ageno Flavia
Ageno Flavia is a jovial and humble thirteen-year-old pupil in Primary Four (P.4). She lives with her siblings under the care of their financially challenged mother, who tries to support their education with her limited earnings from casual labor. Flavia finds pleasure in reading, writing, and playing netball…
Nyaluak Gattek
Nyaluak Gattek is a cheerful ten-year-old girl in Primary Three (P.3). She lives with her siblings and cousins under the care of her eldest sister. Her mother, a casual laborer, stays away but visits occasionally to support them. Despite her efforts, she cannot fully meet their needs. Nyaluak loves reading, writing, and playing netball.

James Simon is an eleven-year-old orphan in Primary Three (P.3). He lives with his siblings under the care of their frail grandmother. They rely on support from UNHCR and well-wishers from their local church and community. Despite financial challenges, James loves school. He enjoys reading, drawing, dancing, and playing football. He is also a member of the school’s Music, Dance, and Drama (MDD) club.

Odongo Ronald is a humble thirteen-year-old orphan boy attending Primary Four (P.4). He lives with his maternal aunt, who tries to support him with basic needs, but her income is barely sufficient to cater to all her children’s and niblings’ needs. Ronald enjoys reading, singing, and playing football.

Boumkuoth Jock
Boumkuoth Jock is an active and innovative thirteen-year-old learner in Primary Four (P.4). He lives with his siblings and single mother, who is a small-scale subsistence farmer. She works tirelessly to ensure her children attend school, but her efforts are often insufficient due to the heavy responsibilities she bears. Boumkuoth enjoys singing, learning, dancing, farming, and crafting items. He is a member of the Youth Alive Club (YAC) at school..
